Limassol Old Town

The southern city of Limassol is the largest port and seaside resort in Cyprus. This region of the country is famous for its wines, sugar cane and beaches. Each year, Limassol hosts some of the largest festivals in Cyprus. The most popular, the ten-day Wine Festival is held in September and allows a variety of vineyards to showcase their wines.

The prime beaches of Limassol are close to the apartment, less than 10 minutes walk.

Shopping

St Andrews Street is the main shopping area of Limassol and is less than 50 meters from the apartment.

Castle

Limassol castle can be seen from the apartment

Built in the l4th century on the site of an earlier Byzantine castle it houses the Cyprus Mediaeval Museum. It was here that, according to tradition. Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191.

The old market is only 5 minutes walking from the apartment and is open every day except on Sundays.

Curium Limassol is the successor to two ancient city-kingdoms, Amathus to the east and Curium to the west, Curium is one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in Cyprus. The impressive mosaics in the Villa of Eustolios, and high on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, is the reconstructed Greco-Roman theatre used for theatrical and musical performances. Nearby stands the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, the protector of the city of Curium.


	Aphrodite's Rock Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou) the mythological legend of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite was born from the foam of the sea around this rock. In the past fertility rituals were performed and at the near by Temple. Situated north of Paphos.
